Post Treatment Care Information

In order to achieve an optimal and rapid healing post your laser treatment please, DO NOT wash off the treated skin area. Avoid wetting or soaping it, and stop using any cosmetics such as: lotions, moisturizing creams, ointments, scrubs, etc. for the first few (3-5) days post treatment. Also, avoid any physical exercise, work and sports that may lead to perspiration. For prevention purposes topical antiseptics (Norsulfazol ) in a powder form might be applied sparingly when prescribed by your physician. Antibiotic ointments are to be applied only in exceptional occurrence of a pronounced inflammation of the treated area (Fucidin). All self-dependent attempts to mechanically remove the formed crusts are absolutely forbidden. Natural crust elimination begins at the end of the first week post laser treatment. For better and faster cosmetic results the epithelialization process of the ablated wound area should be held under the crust. Since after the crusts start peeling off themselves it is recommendable using neutral cosmetics (petrolatum, Eudermol 0 ) and epitelotonic products. The area may be washed with lukewarm water when all scabs are gone, and gently pat dried; the treated skin section will look polished and slightly pinkish, and will be touch sensitive. Apart from that, in the early epithelialization and organization of skin structure any laser treated skin section is very vulnerable to direct sunlight and the one passed through transparent clothing. The treated area is prone to hyperpigmentation within the next 2 months. Thus, during this period the treated area should be kept well moisturized using medical cosmetics, as well as an adequate and rigorous photoprotection with sun protection factor (SPF 50) scrupulously applied. Anyways, should any pigmentation ( in a diffuse form or as an individual pigment strands) appears in this area it should not bother you. Such pigmentation is transient, and if persistent it will be removed through a surface cold laser ablation during the mandatory checkup in the autumn-winter period. Finally, It is also recommendable to use a silica facial cream for one month (Dermartix ).
